Dr. Jasdeep Bahra is a UK-trained Consultant in Emergency Medicine, having qualified from St George's, University of London in 2010 and completed specialist training in the Oxford Deanery. After early experience across multiple specialties, including senior surgical training, he committed fully to Emergency Medicine in 2015, building expertise across high-acuity emergency departments, prehospital care, and trackside trauma medicine at Silverstone Circuit and Mallory Park.
He completed fellowships at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in Critical Care & Echocardiography and Emergency Medicine Research, and holds Level 1 POCUS accreditation from the Royal College of Emergency Medicine and the British Society of Echocardiography. His academic work focuses on AI in diagnostics, trauma innovation, global emergency care, and snakebite envenomation, with publications in The Lancet, The Lancet Digital Health, and the Emergency Medicine Journal.
Currently Senior Lecturer in Emergency Medicine at Pwani University, Kenya, and Head of Service for the Emergency Department and ICU at Kilifi County Hospital, Dr. Bahra leads clinical training, curriculum development, and health systems innovation. He contributes internationally through the Ronald Reagan Institute of Emergency Medicine at George Washington University, the European Society for Emergency Medicine Working Group on Global Emergency Medicine, and by delivering community first aid and emergency response training programmes in Kenya and Saudi Arabia.
In 2026, he was awarded the African Snakebite Alliance Snakebite Envenomation Fellowship for his work in digital surveillance and health system strengthening for snakebite care in Kenya.

Co-Director and Clinical Lead
Attending General Paediatric Consultant
Dr Nabwera a Consultant Paediatrician and Physician Scientist with over two decades of clinical and research experience from sub-Saharan Africa and the UK. She qualified from the University of Nottingham Medical School and did her postgraduate clinical training in the East and West Midlands Deaneries of the UK. She was awarded a Medical Research Council (MRC) Career Development Fellowship (2012-2015). During her fellowship, she managed a rural primary health care facility at MRC Unit, The Gambia’s rural field station in Keneba, and undertook research on growth faltering in early childhood in the rural communities. She has a PhD from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (2017) and a Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene from LSTM (Distinction-2005).
Dr Nabwera is an awardee of the prestigious UK Medical Research Council Foreign Commonwealth Development Office, African Research Leader (2020) fellowship. She is also an Associate Professor in Paediatrics and Child Health at Aga Khan University, Nairobi but lives and conducts her research in Kilifi County. Her research focuses on exploring strategies to improve growth outcomes of children in impoverished communities in sub-Saharan Africa. This involves co-designing and testing innovative strategies that integrate early child nutrition with maternal well-being, to reduce morbidity and mortality among preterm/low birth weight infants.
In addition, she is a Senior Clinical Lecturer (Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine) and an honorary Consultant in Paediatric Infectious Diseases (Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, Liverpool, UK).
Dr Nabwera has over 50 publications in peer-reviewed journals and has co-authored to six book chapters in the fields of infant feeding, paediatric infections and early childhood growth.
Dr Nabwera is passionate about delivering holistic, compassionate and evidence-informed care for children and their families. She is actively involved in training and mentoring health care providers in Kenya, to transform the delivery of child health services particularly in non-tertiary level hospitals and in rural communities such as those in Kilifi County.

Infectious Diseases Physician and Microbiology specialist
Dr. Downs is a Senior Infectious diseases and microbiology doctor training in the Oxford Deanery. She is currently persuing a PhD in Hepatitis B at Oxford University, U.K. and her current work is vital at improving not only local but international treatment of this devastating disease. She is passionate about delivering accurate and effective care of all infections and has been invaluable for helping to develop local antibiotic and vaccination schedules for Kilifi County Hospital, Kenya.
She qualified from St. George's University of London in 2010 and has worked in many specialities prior to securing an academic clinical fellowship from Oxford in her chosen speciality. She completed her first year in research at Oxford University in 2018 and since has gone on to published in multiple medical journals.
Her current expertise lies in the treatment of all infections in both adults and children including malaria, skin infections, viral illneses and many more.

Outdoor Training Facilitator
Marloes Herber is an experienced educator, sports and health specialist, and certified first aid trainer with a strong background in experiential and outdoor learning. Originally from the Netherlands, she has spent over a decade in Kenya working across education, adventure tourism, and community development — creating programmes that bring together teamwork, wellbeing, and real-world skill building. Passionate about connecting people with nature, she has also led numerous hikes and outdoor expeditions along Kenya’s coast, guiding groups through its diverse landscapes while fostering awareness of safety, resilience, and environmental stewardship.
At Kikoi Medical Group, Marloes plays a vital role in logistics, course design, and the delivery of scenario-based first aid training in outdoor and wilderness settings. She helps translate theory into practical action, ensuring participants are prepared to respond effectively in challenging and unpredictable environments.
Drawing on her background as a school teacher, sports instructor, and hike leader, Marloes brings a dynamic, inclusive, and engaging energy to every session. Her commitment to safety, teamwork, and hands-on learning makes her an integral part of Kikoi’s mission to make first aid and emergency care education accessible, practical, and impactful across Kenya and beyond.

Emergency and Critical Care Specialist Clinical Officer
With a commitment to managing healthcare to the highest standards through evidence-based practices, she brings extensive experience in critical care for emergency patients, clinical care in hospital settings, and leading rapid response teams. Her background includes community health outreach, training, and health promotion, alongside teaching healthcare staff in Advanced Life Support.
As the Operations Manager for Emergency Medical Services in Kilifi since March 2023, she oversees daily unit operations. Her career spans roles at Kilifi County Referral Hospital, Kijabe Hospital, Afya Research Africa, St. Luke's Mission Hospital, and various other health centers, where she has provided comprehensive care, led health promotion activities, and mentored healthcare students.

Advanced Emergency Medical Technician
He is an experienced Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) with a decade of hands-on experience in prehospital care and training. He specializes in emergency care and community-driven solutions, demonstrating a steadfast commitment to serving communities. As an EMS Clinical Instructor and Medical Educator, he is dedicated to fostering primary universal health education and responding to distress and disaster crises.
His journey in emergency services has honed his crisis management, patient care, and team coordination skills. As an AEMT, he swiftly responds to diverse emergencies, delivering prompt medical care and facilitating transport for those in critical need. In his role as an EMS Clinical Instructor, he ensures the continuity of essential skills among future emergency responders, guaranteeing communities access to capable and empathetic care providers.
He holds certifications as a Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support Instructor accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA), empowering him to train individuals and healthcare professionals in life-saving techniques, enhancing community resilience. Additionally, as an Occupational First Aid Trainer and Fire Safety/Fire Marshal Instructor, he contributes significantly to community safety by instilling crucial knowledge in workplace safety and fire prevention. Continuously evolving, he aims to equip individuals and communities with the expertise needed to manage emergencies confidently and competently.
